If you would like to use an "avatar" like the one to the left of my name, here is what you need to do:
First, log in. Then click the link to the "Control Center" at the top.
Now go to the menu item "Avatar". You should see a place where you can browse your computer and upload one. It can only be 100 x 100 pixels in size so make it before you start.
After it is uploaded you will see it displayed. You have to click the "selected" button and then hit save.
You should now have an avatar appearing next to your posts.
