I love riding my bike! Whether I’m riding my commuter bike to work, riding my road bike in Leelanau County, riding my 29er in the woods or my fat bike in the snow - I love ‘em all! I love the sense of freedom I feel on a bike. I love the speed. I love having different bikes to choose from, depending on the time of year and my mood. Most of all, I love all of the wonderful people I’ve met through cycling over the years – many of them who are on our team and a part of our wonderful TC cycling community.
I have raced on the Hagerty Cycling team since its inception in 2007. I had a blast road racing with my teammates for six years – chasing races all over the state. Recently, I’ve focused more on racing in the dirt. My two favorite local rides are the Tuesday Night Ride, which I’ve been participating in for over 10 years and Speed of Light. These weekly group rides (races, really!) provide all of my favorite things in a ride/race – fast, competitive, technical, strategic and fun. And the best thing is riding with a bunch of awesome people twice a week!
My proudest moment on a bike…I’ve been lucky enough to have many proud moments on a bike. My most recent is having the fastest women’s time in the Iceman in 2015. I posted the 6th fastest time of the day, including the Pro Women. I trained hard for that goal and it paid off. I had the race of my life.
Besides cycling, my hobbies are Nordic skiing, alpine skiing, sailing and gardening. Something you may not know about me…I taught skiing and snowboarding in Telluride, Colorado for five years. My claim to fame is teaching Joe Montana and his wife to snowboard!
