About The Hagerty Cycling Team

The Hagerty Cycling Team was created to build a cohesive team of talented riders from the Grand Traverse region. The region has not fielded a local road bike team in over fifteen years and many in the local biking community decided it was time to put Traverse City back on the road map! During the winter of 2007, a small local board was formed to create a foundation for supporting the team members and activities. In the spring of 2007, the team was launched!

The Hagerty Cycling Team is dedicated to promoting the sport of cycling through road racing and possibly mountain bike racing in the future. The goal of the team is to give team members the opportunity to develop and expand racing skills through organized coaching, scheduled training rides and a variety of races. The team is based in Traverse City, Michigan at the base of Grand Traverse Bay and enjoys training on the beautiful roads of the Old Mission and Leelanau Peninsulas.

The Hagerty Cycling Team is a member club of the United States Cycling Federation (USCF), the road racing arm of USA Cycling and currently focuses on road racing. There are no requirements for membership, other than an interest in road bike racing and promoting the team sponsors. While most team members hold a racing license issued by the USCF and race on a regular basis, the major interest of some members, is to train and support the team.

Some team members have years of road racing experience, while others are new to the sport; but all are committed to contributing to a positive racing experience in Michigan. See team bios! The team trains together three times per week and team members will race in a minimum of three races this season. Races will include the Tour of Cedar Creek State Road Race in Muskegon, the Superior Bike Fest in Marquette, and the Tour de Leelanau, in our very own Leelanau County. The team members have also committed to volunteering their time to support local races.
