Brian Barsheff

Born in Detroit, grew up in Traverse City. Married my wonderful wife Dorie in 2012 and have three step sons, fourteen, seventeen and nineteen.

I am self employed business owner/operator of Modified Metals LLC where I do metal fabrication and welding. I specialize in wheel repairs such as straightening, welding and refinishing.

In 1993 I served in the US Navy as an Aviation Support Equipment Technician and was stationed in San Diego. I was introduced to the fast pace of motocross riding/racing. Which also led me to mountain biking. Moved back to Traverse City in 2000. Continued the motorcycle scene up until 2005 when I hung up my motorcycle helmet. I then relied on mountain biking for that adrenaline rush.

The past few years I've really thought about mountain bike racing more and more. I started doing group rides and really enjoyed it. I've always looked up to the great riders in our community and wanted to ride at their levels. Being self employed I found it hard to get the rides in I needed to improve my strength, so I resorted to commuting. It took a little while to get used to. I developed different routes and distances and incorporated an informal training for myself. This past year I worked hard at it and loved it. Seasonal changes and all.

The better I felt the more I wanted to race. So I made a commitment to start racing in 2016. I've made so many good friends and keep meeting more.

I'm proud to be a member on the Hagerty Cycling Team!
